How Do You Find Your Weight Loss Goals?

While I talk a lot about finding your “happy weight” on this blog, today I want to talk to you about a few steps that I think are absolutely necessary to get there.

1. Start keeping a diary to think about before going to bed each night. Whatever your purpose, a journal is a great way to notice as it comes up.


2. Whenever you feel a negative thought/emotion, ask yourself:

  • Would I let someone else talk to me that way?

  • What emotions am I experiencing right now?

  • How can I proceed in this situation? Sometimes we mask our feelings about situations with our feelings of body/weight. It's okay to have negative emotions, it's you who will direct the energy that makes all the difference.


3. Show yourself kindness in other areas of your life. You will make mistakes, you will not reach your goals. It's all part of the human experience. Where can you let go and accept instead of beating yourself up? This may come easier in one area than another. The good news is that the more you practice acceptance, the faster it spreads to other areas of your life, such as your health or weight loss goals.



For all of us, I think a change of perspective is the biggest obstacle on the way. It sounds simple, but it's often the hardest part. Many of us want better, thinner, stronger, etc. We suffer so much from trying to be ourselves that we often forget the moments that brought us happiness and peace. A change in expectations and perceptions makes the process of finding a real "happy weight" a more enjoyable way.
